Chia 2.7.1: Chia Network asks everyone to upgrade now

On 20 May 2026 Chia Network released version 2.7.1 of the Chia reference client, with a clear message: "It is critical for all users to immediately install 2.7.1."

Why the urgency?

Version 2.7.1 adds more security fixes on top of those in 2.6.0, 2.6.1 and 2.7.0. They come from Chia's own research and from a flood of AI-assisted bug bounty reports. Chia also said that some private development history leaked by accident in the run-up to the release. That information could help attackers target the very issues this release fixes, which is why upgrading quickly matters.

Other changes

  • WalletConnect was upgraded to version 2, with unified commands, redesigned permissions and support for Chia gaming.
  • Better use of the CPU through one shared thread pool, and faster handling of unfinished blocks.
  • Fixes for coin combining, wallet transaction tracking and several sync edge cases.
  • Transactions that wait for a certain block height are no longer delayed without reason.

Soft fork reminder

Chia also reminded users that rule changes prepared in earlier releases were set to activate at block height 8,655,000. Running the latest version keeps your node in step with the rest of the network.

What it means for XCHPool farmers

Update your full node and farmer (and ideally your harvesters) to 2.7.1, then check that your farmer still connects to https://pool.xchpool.org. Downloads are on chia.net/downloads.
