Chia Network enters purchase agreement with NoSSD
On 3 February 2026, Chia Network announced that it has entered into an agreement with NoSSD. The announcement was titled as a purchase agreement. No terms were published.
Who is NoSSD?
NoSSD built plotting software and runs a farming pool. Chia Network thanked the team for its work and said NoSSD's tools made plotting, and helping to secure the network, simple for people around the world.
What happens to the NoSSD pool?
- The NoSSD pool will keep running until plots in the current format (Proof of Space 1.0) are no longer valid on the Chia blockchain.
- NoSSD will not update to the new plot format that comes with Chia 3.0.
- After that, the NoSSD team plans to start building something new.
Why now?
Chia Network linked the deal to the road towards Proof of Space 2.0 and Chia 3.0. It said it would soon finalise CHIP-48 and CHIP-49, the two proposals that describe the new plot format and its timeline, and that the new plotting software will be released together with Chia 3.0.
What it means for farmers
Nothing changes today: existing plots keep farming. Chia has said that all farmers will need to replot to the new format after the Chia 3.0 hard fork, so farmers in the NoSSD pool will eventually need a pool that supports the new format.
